50 Ton Crane Project Description

A steel rolling mill in western Pennsylvania, USA commissioned us to export a new 50 ton crane. This new 50 ton overhead crane replaces an existing EOT crane used in the customer’s annealing department. This mobile crane 50 ton was installed on a current runway system of 95’ span and 55’ of lift. Fully loaded speeds for the crane are a bridge (480 fpm), trolleys (345 fpm), main hoist (56 fpm), and auxiliary hoist (105 fpm). This 50 ton crane has an eight (8) wheel bridge design with equalizing end trucks.

The bridge crane is operated from an enclosed, insulated, climate-controlled cab with a double pane, tempered glass on four sides, including sliding sides & front, and glass covering part of the floor for visibility straight down. The operator sits in a control chair with mill-duty master switches and other ancillary controls located in the consoles of the arms. This 50 ton crane project included application assistance, design, manufacturing, and installation of the new EOT crane to meet all currently applicable specifications.
