Brief Introduction of The Customer

The company (Spang GmbH & Co. KG) is a professional flower pot factory headquartered in Ransbach-Baumbach. Ransbach-Baumbach is a town in Westerwaldkreis, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The Westerwald region in the south-west is also known as Kannenbäckerland (the country of pot making) because ceramic and terracotta products are commonly produced there - such as flower pots. The customer's company, which is very close to the clay deposits in the area, is now in the fourth generation of family management, employs 180 people, and produces a wide range of pots in fully automated production facilities, which are sold worldwide.

Working Conditions of The Customer

The customer is currently expanding the plant and has built a new raw material processing area. The clay and aggregates needed to produce the pots are stored in several silos, storage bins and bunkers. The unavoidable broken material of flower pots in production is also in this processing area. These are stored in a silo and mixed with raw material batches. Sometimes, broken material must be removed.

Over the years, the employees of the customer company have contributed with their technical expertise to help the company independently adapt its production facilities and specifically to their needs. Therefore, a precise and reliable material handling solution is also sought during raw material processing. In the process of transportation, it is especially required to combine the operating efficiency and running stability of the grab bucket.

Providing Crane Solutions

Based on the specific situation of the customer's company, our engineers decided to choose the modular KBK light crane system after communicating with the customer. Almost any lifting task can be solved with a KBK crane. Grabs are used to transport bulk materials at very high lifting heights (16m hook path) under working conditions at the customer's factory. In harsh environments, cranes and grabs are precisely controlled by integrated specific controllers. As a result, employees only need to focus on the correct material mixing ratio and no longer need to worry about material transportation at all.

The KBK overhead crane is designed to travel on a 31-meter-long crane runway - with two double trolleys at each end on one side of the crane, with two travel speeds. The crane has a span of 7.5 m and a load capacity of 1.6 t. The hoisting mechanism used is a chain hoist with two hoisting speeds: 6 m/min for quick raising and lowering of height, and 1.5 m/min for precise positioning of the grab and raw material.

After the crane ordered by the customer arrived, the local crane service quickly assembled the crane. The crane was immediately put into factory production, supporting the mixing and supply of the raw materials needed for the production of the pots.
