About the Customer's Factory in Dubai

The customer's facility in Jebel Ali (Dubai) develops and manufactures forged flanges and special fittings for the onshore and offshore oil and gas industry and the energy industry. These components must meet extremely stringent requirements regarding material quality, tightness, corrosion protection and service life. The client's company has a strong reputation in this demanding market and, in addition to using a wide range of standard products, also manufactures a large number of customized products that are available worldwide. Producing large and heavy pipe components involves a large number of process steps and just as many transport steps. Back in 2015, the customer's Dubai factory acquired several column jib cranes for the job.

With the factory in production, the company will be expanding with an additional production line and the company was looking for a solution that could handle a range of tasks. An example is at the beginning of the process chain, where steel sheets with a thickness of 5 to 200 mm have to be fed into the plasma cutting machine, where the cut elements are then temporarily stored. Once the organic machining is done, the cut panels (which can be very heavy) are transported to various areas of the new fabrication shop where welding, machining and painting are performed.

The solution, designed and installed by Yuantai engineers on site, uses overhead cranes with a load capacity of 10 tons from Yuantai's standard modular product range.
On the factory floor, each of the five work areas is equipped with an overhead traveling crane that is custom-configured for the respective task. The corresponding load capacity (one to two tons) and other specific parameters of the crane vary. At the end of the process chain in the packaging area a bridge crane weighing two tons is installed.
The ergonomic features and flexible and gentle operation of the bridge crane make production work easier. These cranes are controlled by a cable-connected controller, allowing the operator to control all load movements of the trolley and the crane with exceptional precision.
