Crane wire rope, often referred to simply as wire rope, is a sturdy and flexible cable composed of multiple steel wires twisted together to form a helix. This construction provides the rope with exceptional strength and durability, making it ideal for lifting and hoisting heavy loads.
In 1834, the European Olubert invented the world's first wire rope (glossy wire rope). Domestic is established in 1939, Tianjin City, the first wire rope factory put into production.
Steel wire rope in various industrialized countries are standard products, can be used according to the need to choose its diameter, the number of rope strands, the number of wires per strand, tensile strength and adequate safety factor.
1.Drawing

The winding direction of the wire rope on the reel depends on the direction of the left and right twisting direction of the wire rope winding on the reel, according to the direction that makes the wire rope twisted tightly. The cross-twisted wire rope is not easy to loosen because of its own small rotation, the structure is not easy to loosen and it can be adapted to the left and right rotating reels.
1. Wire breakage caused by overload
Reason: The load is large, and the stress exceeds its tensile strength
Characteristics: The port is a macro "cup-cone" shape
2. Normal fatigue breakage
Reason: Under normal load, repeated bending
A certain period of time after the surface layer of steel wire fatigue breakage
Characteristics: The general surface layer of steel wire has been ground flat
3. Lamp (bird) cage phenomenon
Reason: The load is released, causing the strand, and the wire can't
Restore the original position
Characteristics: present "lantern" and "birdcage-like"
4. Early fatigue breakage
Reason: Rope-cutting operation or other bad habits lead to a section of the wire rope for a long time to withstand continuous loading
Characteristics: Outer layer breakage
5. Periodic breakage
Reason: Splicing, improper bundling of rope head, local wire rope kinking caused by individual strands of raised, resulting in the priority of the raised strands to be worn out, early breakage of wire
Characteristics: Periodic appearance of raised strands on the surface of the rope and breakage.
6. Maraging breakage
Reason: Poor contact with wheel groove or high-speed friction with other objects.
Heat-generated surface martensitization breakage
Characteristics: Cracks on the surface of the wire, brittle.
7. The wire strands are misaligned due to twisting.
Reason: Improper operation of rope pulling, installation, and use, resulting in the slack section of the wire rope being twisted and misaligned.
Characteristics: steel wire, strand misalignment
8. Cracking of strand rope caused by extrusion
Reason: In a small reel, heavy load, or multi-layer winding, the surface of the rope is extruded.
Characteristics: localized strand collapse
9. Localized abrasion caused by improper repair of the rope groove
Reason: improper size and shape of groove repair, resulting in localized abrasion of wire rope.
Characteristics: localized fracture and deformation of the outer strand.
10. Inter-strand extrusion, wear and tear fracture
Reason: A large load, small groove, or core support failure will cause strong extrusion between the strands, and friction, resulting in inter-strand wire fracture.
Characteristics: inter-strand steel wire wear, fracture
11. Rope breakage caused by groove jumping
Reason: Slack wire rope or rope groove leads to wire rope slipping to the rope groove outside the pulley and sideboard pieces, leading to excessive bending and load-bearing breakage of the wire rope.
Characteristics: The macro-diameter of the rope head is reduced, and the wire strand breakage is uneven.
12. External corrosion
Reason: Inadequate maintenance, lack of oil, or exceeding the rust prevention period.
Characteristics: External corrosion
Rope core function: support the outer strand pressure, keep the rope type intact, increase rope elasticity and toughness, reduce friction, improve life.
