Characteristics and Classification of Bridge Cranes

Overhead crane refers to a crane in which the pick-up device is suspended on a trolley or running hoist that can run along the bridge frame, and the two ends of the bridge frame are directly supported on the elevated track through the running device. Generally, it is composed of a bridge frame equipped with a trolley running mechanism, a trolley or a running hoist equipped with a lifting mechanism and a trolley running mechanism, and electrical equipment. The hoisting mechanism is used to vertically lift objects, the lifting trolley is used to move laterally with load, and the bridge and cart operating mechanism is used to move the lifting trolley and objects longitudinally, which has reached the three-dimensional structure within the span and within the specified height. The space is used for moving and loading and unloading goods.

Type Selection of Overhead Cranes

1. First determine the variety according to the use environment

Explosion-proof bridge cranes should be selected for environments with flammable and explosive media. For special-purpose bridge cranes, special bridge cranes should be selected. Power station bridge cranes should be used for power station bridge cranes. Insulation performance requires the use of insulating bridge cranes. If there are special requirements in metallurgical occasions, metallurgical bridge cranes should be selected. A bridge erecting machine should be selected for bridge erection. For general purposes, general-purpose bridge cranes, electric single-girder cranes, electric single-girder suspension cranes, and electric hoist bridge cranes can be selected.

2. Determine the model according to the purpose

For general-purpose bridge cranes, the model is determined according to the materials to be lifted. Hook overhead crane (QD) is used for lifting and transporting general cargo. For hoisting ferromagnetic materials, electromagnetic bridge cranes (QC) are used. Grab bridge crane (QZ) is used for lifting bulk materials. There are dual-purpose cranes and three-purpose cranes for lifting two kinds of materials. The hook bridge crane (QE) with double trolleys can be used for lifting long cargo.

3. Selection should consider the plant conditions

For workshops without power supply, manual bridge cranes should be selected.
If there are restrictions on the height from the corbel to the edge of the roof, electric single-girder cranes, electric single-girder suspension cranes, and electric hoist bridge cranes can be selected.
For small corbels, you can choose electric single-girder cranes, electric single-girder suspension cranes, and electric hoist bridge cranes; if the corbels have small pressures and you want to choose a larger lifting capacity, you can choose trackless bridge cranes.

4. The selection of bridge crane should consider the cost of equipment body and operating cost

Generally speaking, cranes with a hoist as a lifting mechanism (electric single-girder crane, electric single-girder suspension crane, electric hoist bridge crane) are compact in structure, light in weight, small in total power, and relatively low in equipment cost and operating cost. It should be preferred when the conditions of use are met.

The selection of bridge cranes is not only related to the life of the cranes, but also related to equipment and personal safety, energy saving and emission reduction, and productivity improvement. Reasonable selection of bridge cranes is very important.
